So yesterday I was SUPPOSED to have a “date” with an old friend from high school. We reconnected on that fine social networking site called Facebook just last Saturday. By Monday, we had spilled the beans that we both had a crush on each other during our freshman year. We had decided – or at least what I had thought was a decision – that we would meet on Sunday around 3pm for mini golf (if it was nice out) or maybe movie and drinks (if it wasn’t nice out). Here is how Sunday rolled out – all via text messaging: (I deleted some of them because my inbox was full, but I think you can all get the idea!)
(12:19PM) Guy: Hey so what are you up for?
Me: Hey! It’s a beautiful day! I’m up for anything! What do you wanna do?
(1:10PM) Guy: I’m at my place’s pool
Me: That’s kool…so where should we meet?
(1:46PM) Guy: ? I’m still at the pool
Me: okay…Did you change your mind?
(2:13PM) Guy: No
Me: ok…well i’m going to head over in about 10 minutes and should be there around 3:15. Do you want me to meet you at your place or somewhere else?
(2:22PM) Guy: Why, I’m prob not leaving the pool until 3
Me: alright, what time would you like to meet then? (p.s. – I’m very frustrated at this point.)
(2:32PM) Guy: Lets just plan for another time. I’m just gonna stay at the pool.
Me: Are you joking or r u serious?
(2:38PM) Guy: I’m serious. It’s nice out. I’m gonna hang out at the pool.
I didn’t reply after that one and have not heard from him since.
Who does that?!?! I’m honestly speechless. He had initiated everything the entire week leading up to Sunday, with the exception of a text message I sent him Friday morning. Saturday night he said he was looking forward to seeing me. Friday, he couldn’t wait. How does it go from that to yeah i think i’m going to stay at the pool ? I’m baffled. If it was because he got a better offer, then gosh, I would have preferred him to say Something came up and I’ve got other plans or just stinking be honest. You’d think he could have a little more balls and tell a girl what’s up! Sheesh!
A few moments of tears strickly from pure shock and a “can you believe this BS?” text message to my dear friend Tyson who said: “Screw that dude! NEXT!!!” and I’m doing awesome! The last year (and then some) of re-building and strengthening my heart has clearly paid off!!
So the journey to finding love continues…

That’s what I call a blessing! A few minutes texting may have just saved you from heartache a few months down the road.
I hope he got a nasty sunburn!

I have to add…your niece is uber cute in her little Minnie Mouse outfit on your about me page. One of these days I hope we’ll be able to make it to Disney and do the same with our toddler.
